Clarinetist, bass clarinetist, flutist, soprano, alto, and tenor saxophonist Anthony George Coe (29 November 1934 – 16 March 2023) was an English jazz musician. He enlisted in the army in 1953 at the age of 18, joining the unit dance band and playing clarinet in the military band.
He spent some time in France with the Micky Bryan Band, which also included Harry Bryan on trumpet, Gerry Salisbury on valve trombone, Lennie Hastings on drums, and Coe on clarinet, after being demobbed in 1955, before reuniting with Joe Daniels. Tony spent slightly over four years (1957–1961ish) with Humphrey Lyttelton’s band as a result of his father seeing him perform in 1957.
